Before you start painting, make sure you chose to purchase the right property for you.

  • Avoid randomly choosing the  paint:

Do not randomly choose paint but make sure the paint you choose has emulsifiers, dispersants, pigments, defoamers, levelling agents, photo-stabilizers, curing catalysts, and other additives. Remember to choose the paint with anti-foaming agents or defoamers as they hide any flaws or unevenness of the walls. One can also use acrylic emulsions paints that promote washability and abrasion resistance. Many chemical suppliers in Malaysia can easily provide you with all the necessary additives.

  • Avoid Skipping the cleaning procedure before painting the walls:

If you skip this step and leave the walls as they are then oily and dirty surfaces can easily peel off the paint and can reduce the adhesion of the new paint. You can easily clean the walls with the help of a deglosser.  You can easily remove any oil or dirt from the surfaces of the walls and do not forget to fill holes in the walls as they can also damage the overall look of the paint. Hence, do not forget to clean your walls thoroughly.

  • Avoid leaving the floor and furniture in the room uncovered:

Either cover everything in the room or you can take all the furniture out of the room. Try to cover the floor with cotton cloth instead of the plastic sheets as plastic sheets can easily cause accidents.

  • Avoid not rolling the paint along the edges:

Do not forget to roll the paint along the edges to achieve a consistent texture before it dries out. If you do not roll the paint along the edges you will not be able to achieve a consistent texture with surroundings painted areas.

  • Avoid making a small portion of the paint:

Mixing again, and again, can make the color be a bit different from the previous portion and there will be a slight difference in the color every time you mix the portion. Therefore, it would be better to mix paint in a large bowl or a can as it will give you a consistent color throughout the room.

  • Avoid not tapping the trim areas before painting your wall. This way the trim and walls will not have a clean-cut look.
